Ako Leadership – Intellectual Property Policy
1. Purpose
This policy outlines the ownership, use, and protection of intellectual property created, shared, or provided through Ako Leadership services.
It is designed to ensure clarity and respect for the ideas, tools, and resources developed as part of our work together.
2. Intellectual Property Ownership
All intellectual property created and provided by Ako Leadership remains the property of Ako Leadership, including but not limited to:
- Frameworks, models, and methodologies
- Programme content and materials
- Tools, templates, and resources
- Written, digital, or recorded content
- Training materials and presentations
This applies whether materials are shared during:
- 1:1 mentoring
- Group programmes
- Workshops or advisory engagements
3. Permitted Use
Clients are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use materials provided by Ako Leadership for:
- Their own personal development
- Use within their own organisation
This includes applying tools, frameworks, and learnings in their leadership practice.
4. Restrictions on Use
Clients may not, without prior written permission from Ako Leadership:
- Copy, reproduce, or distribute materials externally
- Share resources outside their organisation
- Use materials for commercial gain (e.g. creating their own programmes, training, or services based on Ako Leadership content)
- Record, publish, or distribute sessions, workshops, or programme content
5. Group Programme Participation
For group programmes:
- Materials are provided for individual and internal organisational use only
- Participants agree not to share or replicate content outside the group context
- Respect for the intellectual property of Ako Leadership and other participants is expected
6. Client Contributions
During mentoring or programme work, clients may share ideas, documents, or internal information.
- Clients retain ownership of their own original materials
- Ako Leadership will not use or share client-specific materials without permission
However:
- Any frameworks, insights, or approaches developed as part of Ako Leadership’s methodology remain the intellectual property of Ako Leadership
7. Recording and Use of Session Content
As part of service delivery, Ako Leadership may create records of sessions, including notes or structured documentation of key discussions, insights, and actions.
- These records form part of Ako Leadership’s service delivery and professional documentation processes and remain the property of Ako Leadership
- Clients retain ownership of their own ideas, business information, and materials shared during sessions
Clients may:
- Use insights, learning, and outcomes from sessions within their own role or organisation
Clients may not:
- Reproduce, distribute, or commercially use recorded session content, materials, or documentation provided by Ako Leadership without prior written consent
Any recordings or documented session outputs provided to clients remain subject to this Intellectual Property Policy.
8. Recording and Content Use
- Sessions, workshops, or programmes may not be recorded by clients without prior agreement
- Ako Leadership will not record sessions without informing participants
Where recordings are provided (if applicable), these remain the property of Ako Leadership and are subject to this policy.
Clients are also expected to respect the confidential nature of materials and discussions shared as part of Ako Leadership services.
9. Breach of Policy
Unauthorised use or distribution of Ako Leadership intellectual property may result in:
- Termination of services
- Legal action where appropriate
10. Acceptance
By engaging services with Ako Leadership, clients acknowledge and agree to this Intellectual Property Policy.
This policy forms part of the broader Terms & Conditions and Client Agreement.
